Read The Bill from Sunlight Foundation on Vimeo.

This seems like a no brainer. How could anyone vote for a bill they haven't read? And shouldn't the public have adequate time to examine legislation to determine if it's in their best interest?

A coalition of good-government groups, led by CRP, is kicking off a campaign -- "Read the Bill" -- calling for Hill leadership to live up to their commitment to giving the public 72 hours to review legislation before it's passed.

Their argument seems compelling: That the 72-Hour Rule is most necessary in instances (like the stimulus) where it is most likely to be waived.

There should be no waiving this requirement (unless it involves spurting blood or a mushroom cloud).  In fact, when a bill is 1100 pages long maybe the 72-Hour Rule ought to be doubled. (to accommodate slow readers!)  What's the big rush? Afraid that if we find out what's really in there we'll get angry!?  I thought so!

Tea Party protests were held in states all across the country today. Groups of dozens to hundreds met to protest the destructive policies of the Obama administration.  There are more tea parties planned for the coming months.  Billed as rehearsals, today's protests were only the beginning.  We must stand up and be counted.  We must make our voices heard. We must do what we can to stop this socialist runaway freight train.

UPDATE:

You will also want to check out this website.  It looks like a lot of people turned out today.  Now we need to just keep the fire burning!

Personally I not only want to hear more "no"s, I'd like a few "never"s, a liberal number of "over my dead body"s and a "when hell freezes over" or two thrown in.  Oh yeah, and turn up the volume a notch or two while you're at it.

And to the liberals who produced this ad.  No happens to be the proper response to a proposed action that is either dangerous, or just plain too stupid to consider.  If you need an example, go read the stimulus bill, it meets both criteria.  If you can't read, go find a conservative to read it to you.

.  .  .  It's WONDERPREZ!

No joke!  This is a float in a German carnival.  Here we have a flying Obama complete with wings and halo. He is towing a willing and somewhat giddly looking "Europe" to . . . ummmmm  .  .  . to social instability and financial Armageddon?

A carnival float depicting a flying U.S. President Obama with Europe being dragged along is seen during the traditional carnival parade in Duesseldorf, Germany, on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009. Rose-Monday-Parades in the carnival strongholds of Duesseldorf, Mainz and Cologne are watched by hundreds of thousands of revelers and mark the highlights of Germany's carnival season.

Am I the only one here that could use a drink?
