The American Cemetery on Omaha Beach Normandy, France

We are humbled and grateful.

To borrow the words of Abraham Lincoln, it is "fitting and right" that we remember those who sacrificed everything that we might be free.  Let us not ever take our liberty and freedom for granted.

I'm certain I don't have to remind you why most of us don't have to go to work on Monday.  Have a wonderful holiday weekend . . . Spend a bit of time reflecting on the many blessings of liberty we have in large part because of the sacrifices of others.  May it inspire us to fight on to preserve our God given freedoms!

Thank GOD Dick Cheney had the courage to defend himself and the Bush administration on this important topic. Obama has no cohesive national security policy other than to blame everyone in the Bush administration for war crimes and to apologize to the world for all the pain and suffering we've caused (and if you listened to Obama's speech today you know that we've pretty much caused it ALL).  Cheney won this exchange, in my humble opinion.  Listen and see if you don't agree.

I would like to bring a great piece of work to your attention. This is a straight forward assessment of Republicans in the U.S. Senate.  I've included the findings on the table below, but click on the link to visit the website (

WAY too much squishy going on here in my opinion!

I woke up this morning (I'm still counting that as a positive), and turned on the TV (WHEN will I ever learn!!!  Baaaad Idea!).  The first headline to register with my sleepy ears was this:

Obama to announce auto mileage, emissions standards

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's new fuel and emission standards for cars and trucks will save billions of barrels of oil but are expected to cost consumers an extra $1,300 per vehicle by the time the plan is complete in 2016. Obama on Tuesday planned to announce the first-ever national emissions limits for vehicles, as well as require an overall or industry average fuel efficiency standard at 35.5 miles per gallon.

Carol Browner, the White House energy and climate director, publicly confirmed the new initiative in appearances on morning network news shows, calling it a "truly historic" occasion and saying tougher standards are "long overdue."

NO Christmas card for Carol this year!!!  I'm not exactly sure what the objective is here.  If it's to push the American auto industry off the cliff they're teetering on, then perhaps it will be successful.  If not, well they say that timing is everything .  .  .  and maybe it's just me, but the timing just doesn't seem right on this one.  (Not that that's the only thing wrong here)  Governmental expansion continues, as we mindlessly march toward socialism!
